2025 Photo Competition - Wrap Up

The 2025 What’s Your Angle? Photography Competition may have shifted dates, but its popularity didn’t waver. From July 21 to 25, a total of 128 entries from over 30 entrants transformed the Boyup Brook CRC into an exhibition space of creativity and colour.

This year also introduced a new twist: for the first time, the award announcements were delivered entirely online. In a special social media reveal on Sunday, July 20, followers were treated to a series of posts on Facebook and Instagram unveiling the winners in each category, as well as the Under 18 Awards and the coveted Most Outstanding Print. The judges’ comments accompanied each image, offering insight into what made these photographs stand out to them.

Entries into the Landscapes, Animals, and Open categories were well spread, while Flora saw a surprising dip in popularity for the first time. Meanwhile, the Boyup Brook category told stories about life in the area, with everything from blooming sunflowers and agricultural scenes, to country music snaps and a horse being served a cold one in the local pub!

Under 18 entrants embraced the opportunity to find their angle, with first-time entrant Dakota Flanner taking out first place with Kangaroo Paw (Flora category). The remaining Under 18 Awards went to Mitchell Kay’s Landscape entries.

Most Outstanding Print
Natacha Issler - ‘Country Music Crowd’

Judges Comments for winning image:

"This scene captures people enjoying the music and also manages to show the rest of the crowd and surroundings. The dancers are well lit and the vantage point, presumably a stage, permits the capture of the entire scene. The image is well lit overall without any part being overly bright. An excellent image."
