CELEBRATING TALENT - 2026 BOYUP BROOK ART AWARDS
The 2026 Boyup Brook Art Awards were held over four days, from February 12-15, coinciding with the Country Music Muster and celebrating all things art, colour, and creativity.

The event featured 65 artists from across the Southwest, as well as a handful from Perth suburbs. They exhibited 199 pieces across five categories, showcasing a range of mediums including watercolour, acrylic, oil, pastel, mixed media, fibre art, sculpture, and metalwork.

Artist and local art teacher, Bev Bagby took on the judging challenge for the second consecutive year, and it didn’t get any easier this time around. Multiple visits to the exhibition over three days were required for Bev to finalise the winners list, with the Talison Lithium Open Prize going to a Boyup Brook local artist Nikki Powell (Bestwick).

Her piece Lou’s Biomech Repairs was a 3D Sculpture offering, “A clever, well planned and executed work which uses all the elements - design technique, composition, technical skill and creative flair,” said Bev.

Overall, 12 different artists took monetary awards home, and an impressive 33 pieces sold during the exhibition.

Over the four days, more than 520 people attended the exhibition with many commenting on how impressive the scope of talent was. Visitors were invited to contribute to a community art project, adding their own drawings to a shared canvas that became a colourful highlight of the exhibition.

Almost every visitor cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award, which was won by Manjimup artist Barbara Maumill for her work Morning Light (entry #172).

The Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre, who organises the Art Awards, is very grateful to the dedicated group of volunteers who contributed more than 160 hours of their time to ensure this year’s event ran smoothly and successfully.

The CRC also extends its thanks to the 2026 event sponsors and supporters: Talison Lithium, Lions Club of Boyup Brook, Boyup Brook Co-op, Harcourts Heartland, Boyup Brook IGA, Rhodes Pastoral, Hampton Partners, Boyup Brook Agricultural Supplies, P&J Broockmann, Jacksons Drawing Supplies Bunbury, Shire of Boyup Brook, Beulah Wines, Country Music Club of Boyup Brook, and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
