The Boyup Brook Telecentre is a community owned and managed non-profit organisation. The management committee is made up of elected Telecentre members. Their role is to represent the Telecentre in the community and also present the needs and views of the community, provide a forum for new initiatives and to act a board of review. Our mission statement is: Provide resources and enhance motivation for the economic, social and cultural development of Boyup Brook by delivering training, education, communication and access to information. A manager and staff operate the Telecentre on a daily basis. A variety of services are offered by contracting local people with relevant skills.
The majority of staff are part time or casual employees and contribute many volunteer hours to the Telecentre. The Boyup Brook Telecentre is part of a statewide network of over 100 Telecentres servicing rural and remote communities in Western Australia. The Telecentre Support Unit, funded through the Department of Local Government and Regional Development, and Regional Coordinators support the widely spread Telecentres. |
